Batavia/Leesburg, FL ~ Leona H. "Lee" Moscicki, age 78, of Leesburg, FL, formerly of Batavia, peacefully passed away on Wednesday morning, August 5, 2015 at Heidi’s Haven in Leesburg, FL. Lee was born in Batavia on May 27, 1937 to Henry and Angela Sobolewski (Twardowski). Lee married Robert Moscicki on July 7, 1956 and lived in Batavia until 2007, when they moved to Leesburg. Lee was a member of Saint Paul’s Catholic Church of Leesburg. Lee is survived by her loving, devoted husband Robert of 59 years; daughter, Saundra Moscicki of Brewster, MA. Pre-deceased by her son and daughter in-law, Bruce and Cheryl Moscicki (MacArthur). She is also survived by her sister, Carol (Bayne) Johnson, of Silver Springs, NY; granddaughter Jela (Jim) Shute, great grandsons, Cooper and David Shute, of Perry, NY; sister in-law Patricia (Willard) Preston of The Villages, FL; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Lee graduated from Batavia High School in 1955 and worked as a bookkeeper/teller at M&T Bank in Batavia, NY, and was a stay at home Mother for her two children, Bruce and Sandy. Lee also worked as a teacher’s aide at Jackson Elementary School, and as a bookkeeper at True Value Hardware, she also volunteered at the local animal shelter. Lee was a beautiful lady who always had a smile on her face, she was soft spoken, and offered thoughtful comments, containing humor, as needed. She was a trusted confidant to many, who often looked to her for advice. Lee was a nature lover and loved all animals, especially her Shih Tzu, Angel, who was always by her side. Lee, her husband Robert, and family spent summers at their summer cottage on Silver Lake, in Perry, NY for 29 years, from 1974 to 2003. She enjoyed her time with her beloved “Lake Family”, of very close friends and neighbors at the lake. Lee enjoyed boat rides and also visiting with her sister Carol, and brother-in-law Bayne at the lake. Lee and her husband Robert have lived in Leesburg, FL full-time since 2007. A Mass at Saint Paul’s Catholic Church in Leesburg, FL was held on August 18, 2015 at 8:30 A.M. There was a Celebration of Life Ceremony that followed the Mass, at Zachary’s Restaurant, Located in front of Legacy, U.S. Highway 27, Leesburg, FL. Beyer’s Funeral Home of Leesburg, FL handled Lee's arrangements. Friends are invited to attend her Memorial Mass at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, September 2 at Ascension Parish, Sacred Heart Church Site, 15 Sumner Street, Batavia. Interment will immediately follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery where Lee will be laid to rest with her son, Bruce. Family and friends are then cordially invited back to the Sacred Heart Church hall for a reception to Celebrate Lee's life. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Lee’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Cornerstone Hospice, in Tavares, FL, or a charity of your choice.
