Joanne was the first grandchild in history the Merica family out of 31. I spent a lot of time at my Aunt and Uncles house as I was close with Nancy. Joanne was much older than Nancy and I but she was always a sweet person with a huge heart. As we all got older, I loved hearing stories about our Grandparents and all the fun times growing up on Church St. Sundays all our families got together for dinner at our house….there was never a lack of kids to play with! Those are memories I treasure the most and know that Joanne did too! Love you cuz and may you be at peace - Anne Marie

As I stepped off the bus, I had no idea just how lucky I truly was. As a little girl from New York City (the Fresh Air Fund) I was chosen to stay with the Pangrazio family—and what was supposed to be a two-week visit turned into an unforgettable summer in LeRoy, NY. I spent that summer with Joanne—who quickly became "Mom" to me. She was a beautiful, kind, and nurturing woman who seemed to know exactly what each of her children, foster children, and Fresh Air Fund kids needed. She had a way of making everyone feel seen, loved, and cared for. Thank you, Mom, for the incredible memories and the lasting impact you've had on my life. With love and gratitude, Robyn Yee Tarjamo
