David P. Parton Obituary

David Paul Parton, age 88, of LeRoy, NY, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2025 at the NYS Veterans Home in Batavia.


     He was born on August 25, 1936 in LeRoy, the youngest son of the late George D. and Minerva C. Magee Parton.


     He was a 1954 graduate of LeRoy Central School.  He served his country honorably with the US Army from 1959-1962.  He worked his entire career in retail settings that included A & P, Fay’s Drug and, in retirement, at Crocker’s Ace Hardware in LeRoy.


     An Eagle Scout, Dave was very active with the Boy Scouts of America having served as a leader of Boy Scout Troop 23 in LeRoy in the 1970’s.


     Dave was a lifetime member and very active with the First Baptist Church of LeRoy, having served for many years as a Trustee, sang in the choir and was a Lifetime Deacon.  He was also a member of the Botts Fiorito American Legion Post #576.


     When not working, he enjoyed fishing and hunting, bowling, gardening and most of all, playing golf at the LeRoy Country Club and anywhere he could play with his brothers, son, sons-in-law and grandsons.  He enjoyed attending family events and going to many events of his grandchildren.  He and his wife traveled to each of the 48 contiguous states throughout their marriage.


     He is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years (10/12/63), Barbara Dickinson Parton; his children, Sharon (Michael) Burns of Batavia, Brenda (Scott) Maddox of Wake Forest, NC and Douglas (Stacy) Parton of Randolph, NJ; grandchildren, Courtney Burns (Matthew Yehl)  of Orchard Park, Dylan and Ashley Maddox of Wake Forest, NC and Nicole and Andrew Parton of Randolph, NJ.  He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Carolyn Parton, along with many nieces, nephews and dear family friends.


     Dave was predeceased by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Clifford (June) Parton and James (Nancy) Parton; brother, Wayne Parton; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia (Robert) Markham.


     Family and friends may call on Saturday, July 12 from 1 ~ 2 PM at the First Baptist Church of LeRoy, 5 E. Main St., LeRoy, NY, where his Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM.


     Dave will be laid to rest privately at Machpelah Cemetery in LeRoy.


     Contributions in memory of David are suggested to the First Baptist Church of LeRoy or the NYS Veterans Home of Batavia, Activities Dept., 220 Richmond Ave., Batavia, NY 14020.
