Churchville ~ John W. Zinter, age 95, passed away Friday (July 11, 2025) at Strong Memorial Hospital.

     John was born on September 1, 1929 in Buffalo, a son of the late John and Lois (Bixby) Zinter.  He was married to the late Shirley (Smith) Zinter, who was the absolute love of his life, for over 70 years.

     John will be remembered as a very caring and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

     He graduated from St. Lawrence University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.  He worked for a time for General Electric in Buffalo, NY before being hired by Bell Aerospace for many years.  In 1973, he was hired by Eastman Kodak in Gates, NY where he worked until his retirement.

     John will be sadly missed by his children, Helen (Thomas) Gumkowski, Susan (late Donald) Miller and John (Barbara Jean) Zinter; grandchildren, Thomas (Amy) Gumkowski, Jeffrey Gumkowski, Jessica Gumkowski, Donald (Kim) Miller, Christine Miller, Brittany (Adam) Drexler, Tiana (Jeff) Pack, Aurora (Skylar) Wade, Devon Zinter and Sawyer Zinter; great-grandchildren, Shane Drexler and Alyssa Drexler.

     In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his wife and soulmate, Shirley; his son, David Zinter; sister, Mary (Gib) Nagle and granddaughter, Alyssa Zinter.

     There will be no prior visitation or services and interment will be at the convenience of the family.
