Cheryl Favier Toyama, aged 68, passed away on the afternoon of Wednesday, July 16, 2025. She was surrounded by loved ones until her final moments. She was born on August 11, 1956 in Flemington, NJ; a daughter of the late William Edward Favier and Shirley Favier.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Toyama; three children, Eric Toyama (wife: Erica), Ryan Toyama, and Lani Hoskins (husband: Danny); four grandchildren, Grace Toyama, Owen Toyama, Phoebe Hoskins, and Sophie Hoskins; one sister, Adele Minton; and nephew/niece, Jeff Minton (wife: Christina) and Sarah Yablonski (husband: David).
After graduating from Hunterdon Central High School, she attended The Eastman School of Music. Using her bachelor’s degree in voice and education, Cheryl touched the lives of countless students, musicians, and vocalists through her many years of teaching. Becoming a pillar of the local music community, she taught private voice and piano lessons from her home for 47 years. She directed and music directed many local community, church, and school theatre productions. For nearly 40 years, she was a dedicated church choir director for singers of all ages.
A member of The Daughters of the American Revolution and The Descendants of the Signers of the Declaration of Independence, Cheryl was immensely proud of her family’s history, and enjoyed genealogy. She was an avid traveler and spent her summer vacations camping with her family. Her favorite travel achievements were visiting all 50 states and crossing the country on Route 66 in both directions.
She loved her family, friends, and students dearly.
Calling hours will be Monday, July 28, 2025 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake Street Road, LeRoy, NY 14482.
Cheryl’s Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at 11:30 am at Union Congregational Church, UCC, 14 North Main Street, Churchville, NY 14428.
