October 30, 1977 – July 21, 2025

Mitchell Andrew Johnston, 47, passed away suddenly on July 21, 2025.

     He was predeceased by his father, Gary Johnston, his uncle, James Johnston and brother in-law, Brett Merica. 

Mitchell is survived by his wife, Stacey Johnston; his son, Nicholas (Hayley) Fanara, his daughter, Keeley Johnston and his grandson, Nolan Fanara. He is also survived by his mother, Patricia (James) Yarosh; his sister, Wendy (Kim) Barnett; his brother, Robert (Suzette) Johnston; and his aunt, Marlene Johnston. He also leaves behind his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gerard and Barbara Merica; siblings-in-law, Ryan and Samantha Bradway and Jordan Merica; as well as many beloved nieces, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

     Mitchell was a lifelong comic book fanatic, a disc golf enthusiast, and a lover of nights spent around a campfire with his closest friends. He especially cherished Marvel movie marathons with his children. His quick wit, big heart, and unwavering loyalty to those he loved will never be forgotten.

     Mitchell was a devoted and loving father. He was fiercely proud of his children and supported them in everything they did. Being a dad was his greatest joy—and he was so very good at it. 

He also shared an unbreakable bond with his dog, Izzy, his loyal companion and best friend of 14 years. The comfort and joy she brought to his life was immeasurable.

     From childhood through high school, Mitchell built friendships that lasted a lifetime. Whether causing mischief as kids or showing up for each other through the years, those early bonds remained among the most important relationships in his life and he held them close to his heart.

     Mitchell was proud to be part of the CMI Communications family, now known as ON Services, where he built lasting friendships and countless memories. His work allowed him to travel widely, experiencing new places, people, and perspectives that enriched his life. The connections he formed with his colleagues extended far beyond the workplace and became some of his most treasured relationships.

     A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
