LeRoy ~ Kathryn (Kay) Kelty, age 85, of South Street, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 9th at 10:15 PM, with loving friends by her side. Up until the time of her passing, Kay had many visitors who stopped to tell her how special she was to them and conveyed to her how much they loved her. Her passing has left a void in all the hearts that loved her. She was a true and loyal friend to so many.
Kay was born August 24, 1940, a daughter of the late Leo and Mildred Kelty and a brother of the late William (Bill) Kelty.
Although Kay never married or had children of her own, every child that spent any time with her had a special place in her heart and made them feel special on every possible occasion. Kay’s house was the most popular house on South Street on Halloween as she gave out the biggest candy bars and an instant photo of all the ghosts and goblins that stopped by.
Kay volunteered as a religious education teacher for kindergarten age children for several years, which was the greatest joy of her life. She lit up telling her friends all about the babies that stole her heart by all the precious moments she had with them. They were a gift to her and every one of them was special in her eyes.
Kathryn worked at Bausch and Lomb in Rochester as a customer service consultant for over 20 years and AMA in LeRoy for 10 years.
Kay is survived by cousins, Martha Kelty Barrows, Peggy Lapp Halligan and John Lapp, along with many very close and dear friends.
Her Rite of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 19 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Mercy Parish, St. Peter’s Church, 44 Lake Street, LeRoy.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Our Lady of Victory in Buffalo, NY or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
