Tom, known as “Brillo” to so many, passed away peacefully on 10/9/2025 at the age of 71. He was born in Batavia, NY on 2/12/1954, the second child of the late John J. and Kathleen (Cravotta) O’Geen. 

     A lifelong resident of LeRoy, NY, Tom was known and admired throughout the town for his exceptional work as a house painter and wallpaper hanger- a craft he not only mastered, but cherished. 

     Continuing the proud family tradition begun by his father, John J. O’Geen, Tom carried on the family painting business with dedication, skill, and heart for over 50 years. His steady hand and meticulous attention to detail brought warmth and beauty to countless homes across the community. To many, his work was more than a job - it was an art form and a gift to those he served. He took great pride not only in his work, but in the relationships he built with his clients, many of whom became lifelong friends.

     Beyond his craftsmanship, Brillo was also known for his love of music; especially his extensive music collection and stereo system, along with his love for animals, family and friends. Brillo’s outrageous sense of humor and the ability to make anyone laugh will be remembered and greatly missed by all. 

     He is survived by his wife, Sandy (Szczyt) O’Geen; daughter, Stephanie (Troy) VanBuren; his beloved grandsons, James and Louis VanBuren; his sister, Janet (Gary) Rowcliffe; his two nephews, Dan Clor and John Rowcliffe and two nieces, Janet Clor-Huerta and Jennifer Clor- Hixenbaugh. 

     May his memory live on and in the words of his favorite band, The Beatles, “Let it Be”.

     Family and friends are invited to share in a Celebration of Tom’s Life on Sunday, October 19 from 11 AM ~ 4 PM at the American Legion, 53 West Main Street, LeRoy.
