LeRoy ~ Charles Goldberg, Jr., 95, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2025.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Charles was a lifelong fan of the Red Sox. He often told stories of frequent trips to Fenway Park with his father or grandfather—one of the highlights of his childhood. Despite the decades being away from Boston, he never lost those warm memories or the accent of his hometown.
Charles joined the Army right out of high school and honorably served in the Korean War. After his discharge, he worked a variety of jobs, primarily in retail, until starting his own residential cleaning business. He was a hard worker who took great pride in providing for his family.
Charles met his wife, Geraldine, while serving in the Army, and if asked—often even when he wasn’t asked—he would say that his greatest accomplishment and greatest love was his wife of 73 years. A testament to his commitment to their relationship was Charles choosing to be baptized as an adult. With Geraldine as his guide, he followed a life of Christian faith.
Charles leaves behind his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
The family will gather privately at a later time to honor Charles’ life.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his memory to St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Geneseo or to a local animal shelter.
