Robert D. Taylor, Jr., age 84, passed away peacefully on December 31st, 2025 following a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Born on October 17th, 1941 in LeRoy, NY, Bob graduated from LeRoy High School in 1959, and while in high school he excelled as a pitcher for the team and played varsity basketball. He was an alumnus of Michigan State University. Bob served as a volunteer firefighter and was a lifelong member of the Oatka Hose Club, Lions Club, and LeRoy Home Workshop.
Bob lived a life defined by service and deep commitment to his community and family. He believed strongly in giving back and devoted many years to public service, including dedicated terms on the LeRoy Central School Board and LeRoy Village Board, where he worked tirelessly to improve education, strengthen civic life, and serve the needs of his neighbors. His leadership was marked by fairness, thoughtful decision making, and a genuine concern for the community in which he lives.
Above all, Bob was a devoted family man. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose steady presence, quiet wisdom, and sense of humor left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Despite the challenges of Parkinson’s disease, he faced each day with dignity and perseverance, supported by the love of his family.
He is survived by his wife, Lynda, his son William (Amy) Taylor, his daughter Barbara (Curt) Heatherman, his granddaughters Olivia Taylor and Nicole (Eric) Ange, and many extended family members and friends who will miss him deeply. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert D. and Margaret Taylor, and sister, Margaret (Taylor) Barbeau.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the medical staff and caregivers at RRH United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia who provided compassionate care during his illness.
Family and friends may call on Monday, January 5th from 3-5 PM and 7-9 PM at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake Street Road, LeRoy, NY. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, January 6th at St. Marks Episcopal Church on 1 Main Street, LeRoy, NY.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation in honor of Robert D. Taylor, Jr. Flowers are also welcome.
Bob’s life was one of service, kindness, and quiet strength. His legacy will live on in the community he served and in the hearts of those who loved him.
