With great sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great- grandmother, Lois M. Calkins, who peacefully left us on January 29th at the age of 92 at the United Memorial Medical Center.
Mrs. Calkins was born on May 1st 1933 in Batavia, the daughter of Earnest and Helen Handyside. She later met her husband, Richard Calkins and was married for 63 years.
Lois truly knew that it was more blessed to give than to receive. Her generosity knew no bounds. Lois was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a beautiful soul who would help anyone. Her radiant smile lit up any room she entered. She enjoyed going camping, cooking and caring for others. She lived life to the fullest and especially loved spending time with her husband at their winter house in Florida. She dedicated her life to caring for her family and was a pillar of strength to all who knew her. Her generosity and warm spirit touched the lives of many.
She survived by her children, Sue Perovich (Mark), Karen Mills and Rick Calkins (Dawn); her grandchildren, Jeffrey (April) Mills, Scott (Steffie) Calkins, Daniel (Deanna) Calkins, Rossanne Pernicone, Kimberly (David) Gross and Sofia (Scott) Bowes; her great-grandchildren, Lliam, Kierdon, Ali, Cheyenne, Landyn, Johnny, Raeanne, Paisley, Palmer, Poppy, Ezra, Elijah, Harrison, Ronan, and Cecilia.
In addition to her parents, Lois was predeceased by her husband, Richard G. Calkins in 2016.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
