LeRoy ~ Walter "Wally" Kochmanski passed away early Saturday afternoon, January 31, 2026 at UMMC in Batavia. He was born April 26, 1956 to Alfred and Sofia (Rynski) Kochmanski in Buffalo.
Wally retired in 2018 from Attica Correctional facility after 32 years of service. Wally walked the toughest beat in life both "behind the walls" and on the outside being predeceased by three of his children, Jimmy, Jennifer, and Robert. He adopted sayings like, "take life one day at a time, stay strong, and smile away."
A self proclaimed "jack of all trades, master of none." Wally was always there to lend a hand or give advice. He was famous for his wally burgers and his creative jingles. Wally will be remembered for his larger and louder than life personality and his contagious laughter. He lived for his grandchildren and loved being a Dzia Dzia.
Wally leaves behind his loving wife of 48 years, Kathleen (Hammer) Kochmanski, sons Wally Jr (Claudia) and Stephen (Nikki), five grandchildren, two brothers, brother/sister in laws, and many nieces and nephews. Wally will be greatly missed by all that knew him. Smile Away!
