Kathryn A. "Pepper" Lapp Obituary

Batavia ~ Kathryn Ann “Pepper” Lapp, age 91, of East Main Street, passed away Tuesday evening (Feb. 10, 2026) at the LeRoy Village Green Nursing Home.


     She was born July 2, 1934 in Batavia, a daughter of the late John and Isabelle Dempsey Hanley.


     Kathryn will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend to many.  She attended nursing school becoming an LPN and started her career at the former Genesee Memorial Hospital in the maternity ward and concluded her nursing career working for The Hurlbut Nursing Home in Henrietta.  When not working, she was dedicated to raising her family.  She enjoyed knitting, talking to family and friends on the phone, reading James Patterson books and Gothic novels, square dancing and camping, where she would get up early to make breakfast for everyone even if she wasn’t a morning person.


     She will be sadly missed by her children, Maurelle Ain, Thomas (Beth) Lapp and Jeffrey Lapp; daughter-in-law, Denise Lapp, along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and dear friends.


     She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Donald “Hammer” Lapp; her son, Donald Lapp Jr. and her sister, Joan (Francis) Buckenmeyer.


     Kathryn’s graveside service will be announced at a later date.
