James Brian Clark Obituary

James Brian Clark, known as Brian, passed away on February 12th after a long illness with Alzheimer's.  Brian was born on June 16th, 1939 in Batavia to James and Virginia (Finn) Clark of LeRoy.

Brian was predeceased by his parents; sisters, Sharon Clark and Marcia (Clark) Boor; his brother, Tim Clark and brother-in-law, Ron Lawson.  Previously departed also include his daughter, Sarah (Clark) Southcott and grandchildren, Ryan Clark and Sadie Southcott.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of 65 years, Donna (Heaman); his six children, Mike (Catherine) Clark, Patrick (Tracey) Clark, Deborah (Eric) Kinney, Matt (Alicia) Clark, Josh (Margarita) Clark and son-in-law, Jeremy Southcott; grandchildren, Kelly Clark, Kristin (Nick) Henrichs, Matt Clark, Brendan (Kelly) Kinney, Benjamin (EvaRae) Kinney, Adam Kinney, Erin Clark, Will Clark, Joshua Clark, Clark (Mariah) Southcott, Sally Southcott, Jane Southcott; great-granddaughter, Ella Southcott; brother, Ed (Gigi) Clark; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary Boor, Barb Clark, Ann Lawson, Tom (Judy) Heaman and Deborah Sorensen, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A 1957 graduate of LeRoy High School, he was nearly a life-long resident of LeRoy except for a brief stint in Pennsylvania working for American Bank Stationary and his time served in Korea with the U.S. Army.  Brian was a man of great faith and a long-time parishioner at Our Lady of Mercy Parish.  In the 1980’s, he was also an active member at St. Mary’s in Pavilion.

Brian’s passion was his family.  He spent a great deal of time attending the sporting events and other school functions of his children and grandchildren.  Having donuts and coffee with family after church on Sundays was one of his favorite activities.  “Making Memories” was one of his favorite catch phrases.  He was also an eternal optimist.  According to him, his cup was always at least half full to overflowing.  His disposition matched his optimism and it was nearly impossible to catch him having a bad day.

Brian was a salesman at heart and owned a number of businesses in Western New York including, Brian Clark Printing Company, The Drummer Pennysaver, and Livingston County Drummer.  For a period of time, he also owned and operated the Navy News in Virginia Beach, Virginia.  Early and late in his career, he sold checks and other stationary needs to banks and credit unions for American Bank Stationary and later Liberty Check Printers.
