LeRoy ~ Marie Concetta “Connie” Cecere (O’Geen), age 82, formerly of Franklin Avenue, passed away peacefully at home on Monday morning, February 16, 2026.
Born on March 4, 1943, in LeRoy, New York, Connie was the daughter of the late Joseph and Pauline (Malone) O’Geen. A lifelong resident of the LeRoy community, she carried with her a deep love for her hometown, her family, and her faith throughout her life.
Connie was a devoted member of St. Joseph’s Church, now Our Lady of Mercy Parish, where her strong Catholic faith was a guiding force. Her devotion to family was evident in everything she did. She was a loving mother, proud grandmother, caring sister, and cherished friend whose warmth and generosity touched many lives.
For most of her adult life, Connie worked as a beautician, a profession that perfectly suited her outgoing personality and gift for conversation. She enjoyed connecting with her clients and took pride in helping others look and feel their best.
Connie also had a deep love for cooking, which was one of her favorite hobbies. She found great joy in preparing meals for her family, especially during holidays and gatherings. Her kitchen was often the heart of the home, filled with delicious aromas, lively conversation, and plenty of laughter. Cooking was her way of showing love, and her family will forever cherish the traditions and recipes she passed down.
Outside of work and the kitchen, Connie enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, sharing laughter around the table, and occasionally trying her luck at the casino. Above all, she treasured the time spent surrounded by those she loved.
She is survived by her children, William (Gina) Cecere III of East Amherst, David Cecere (Lisa) of North Chili, and Amy (Jeff) Nelson of Palm Coast, Florida; her beloved grandchildren, William IV, Rudy, Dominic, Cameron, and Evan; her brothers, Salvatore “Sam” (Joan) O’Geen and Joseph “Mokey” (Donna) O’Geen, both of LeRoy; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Connie was predeceased by her brothers Frank, Philip, and James O’Geen, and her sisters Sarah (Zinni) and Palmina “Pam” O’Geen.
Connie’s family will receive friends and loved ones at her Rite of Christian Burial on Saturday, February 28, at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Mercy Parish, St. Peter’s Church, 44 Lake Street, LeRoy.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to LeRoy Volunteer Ambulance Service, Inc., 1 Tountas Avenue, P.O. Box 56, LeRoy, NY 14482.
Connie’s legacy of faith, love, devotion, and hospitality will live on in the hearts — and around the tables — of all who knew and loved her.
