LeRoy ~ Nicholas L. Kabala, 63, passed peacefully at home on Monday, July 25 after a 9 month battle with cancer. Nick was born on August 20, 1952 and is the son of the late Carl and Anne Kabala of Greece, NY. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Barb (Krenzer); his children, Sandy (Sean) Whiting and Brian Kabala; granddaughter, Jane Whiting; sister, Betty (Doug) Thomas; mother-in-law, Fran (Ianita) Krenzer; sister-in-law, Karen (John) White; brother-in-law, Dutch (Rhonda) Krenzer; and many nieces and nephews. Nick was predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ann (Bob) Sweetser and father-in-law, Ray (Dutch) Krenzer. Nick retired from General Motors after 36 years of service and worked at IMCO in quality assurance for 8 years until his diagnosis. He had a love of music, baseball (anything Yankees), and the outdoors. Nick loved his country and previously served in the National Guard. He was a former Captain of the LeRoy Fire Department and a member of the Excelsior Hook and Ladder Company. He also spent numerous summers coaching Girls’ Softball, something he loved to do. Family was always his number one priority, which was evident in the way he showed his love every day. Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, July 29th from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake Road (Rt. 19). A funeral mass celebrating Nick’s life will be held on Saturday, July 30th at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Mercy Parish, St. Peter’s Church, 44 Lake Street, LeRoy. Donations in Nick’s memory can be made to the American Brain Tumor Association, 8550 W. Bryn Mawr Ave. Ste 550Chicago, IL 60631.
