I was very saddened to recently learn of Brian’s passing. He was a gentle giant at Canisius and was loved by all….student-athletes and students alike, commuters and especially fellow dormers! I hope he didn’t suffer. Rest in peace my friend, heaven will be a better place because you are there. Mike Vavonese

I can speak for many of us UB PJ Bottoms regulars that Brian was a source of comfort and protection. He’d hold our barstools, have our backs, and observed the room in a fatherly way. His deep laugh, huge smile, and big hugs made all of us feel at home. When my parents visited me, my father insisted on stopping in to PJ Bottoms to say hello to Brian- I know he felt comforted that a fatherly figure was watching over all of us young and naive girls. I can’t express how much of an impact he had on my (and many others) college years, and the image of his giant smile will forever remain in my mind. May you find peace knowing that he touched the lives of so many.

Brian will forever be a memory of caring friend in Buffalo for me. He was always behind the bar at PJ Bottoms when I arrived, had an infectious smile, and would greet me with a soft hello and a hug. 34 years later I still talk about his kind gestures and friendship back then. I’m so sorry for your loss may his memory live on forever!! Debbie Davis Rymar

Brian was the most gentle loving young. I was so proud to call him son. He really was a member of our family. He worshipped his little sister very much. She to is a part of our family. Brian watched over all of his buddy Randy’s younger sister. I never met Bonnie but someday I might. She was Brian’s loving wife. I loved Brian as much as my own children. Fly high my acngel
