Rhonda was always so proud of her family, her two daughters Christy and Karyn. Nothing long ago I received a letter about Christy’s golf accomplishments, Complete with her famous “quotes”.
I treasured being a friend to Rhonda, and a nursing school classmate. Rhonda always had a smile and a hearty laugh. She was in charge of our dorm residence our first year, where we stayed in the dorms that were built by George Eastman! We would hop on the beds and knock on the exposed pipes to the tunes of “Knock 3 Times” by Tony Orlando and Dawn. Rhonda was the head of the residence committee and was expected to enforce the rules, which included not having any hot plates, coffee makers, or refrigerators. Many of us had cube refrigerators in our room as we would make our breakfast and lunch before class and clinical. Rhonda would find these gadgets and admonish us. Many of us then covered them up with blankets which probably made things more of a fire hazard. She finally gave up.
Rhonda was a great student. I remember one day in Nursing 101 with sister Mary Thomas, Rhonda blurted out- “How do you spell PKU?” Everybody laughed.
Rhonda went home most weekends to help on the farm and see her boyfriend Del. I was privileged to go to their wedding, remembering many pictures taken with them with their golf clubs at the reception. It’s no wonder Christy became such a good golfer.
Both of us worked at Strong, however, Rhonda was in the OR and I was up on the floors working as a nurse practitioner. Rhonda was very well thought of by her OR colleagues in physicians.
In recent years, classmates would go to dinner in the fall and in 2023 we had our 50th reunion at Letchworth State Park. It was always great to get together and to see Rhonda.
I have many other memories and pictures that I will share with Karyn and Christy. It was certainly a pleasure to be her friend and share adventures together

Rhonda was a fighter, devoted mother, loving wife and generous friend. She has long been an advocate for the Pavilion Food Pantry, and for years made sure that every family received a container of ready to heat and serve squash for Thanksgiving and Christmas. It was a big job, and she prepared it with a glad heart, spending long and often late hours in her kitchen. She surely has earned her wings, and will be missed. Sue Kinney

I first met Rhonda when we were young nurses in the Operating Rom at Strong Memorial Hospital ( as URMC was known then.) We worked different shifts but she was a great Nurse, very knowledgeable and a hard worker. She has always had a thirst for knowledge. If anyone had a concern or question Rhonda would always find the answer and get back
to you. I always loved catching up with her on the kids and what was going on in our lives outside of work After we both retired I loved the letters she wrote and then me writing back with nurse news. She was a great story teller. I will miss her.

So sad to say goodbye to my cousin and fellow Nurse Rhonda.
I’m glad I was able to see her, talk and text with her during this past year during her health struggles.
She kept a very positive and forward focused attitude as she battled to recover.
I will remember her as strong, kind and caring person who loved and cared for her family and fiercely promoted health and happiness for all.
Gods speed to you and peace and comfort to your family and friends.
Until we meet again,
Wayne Thompson

I’m so sorry to hear of our cousin, Rhonda’s passing. I always enjoyed our conversations during holidays as we were growing up. She was an excellent letter-writer, keeping our family informed of some challenging events in her life. And when we infrequently met as adults at some occasions, she always had an interesting story to share. She has left this earth too early…

My deepest and most heartfelt condolences to all of Rhonda’s family. She shared her whole life with so much love and strength for her family, friends, co workers and the many patients that needed her compassionate care.
She was so proud of her family and I attribute their success to both Del and Rhonda for being outstanding role models for parenting. May the memories shared comfort you and keep the love within your hearts forever. Brenda Weaver

I worked with Rhonda many years at URMC. she was always very insightful and positive. We had many laughs together.
When my own mother passed away and I told Rhonda I was going to skip Christmas, she put together a binder of gift cards and activities for self care. I think of her often and smile.
My deepest condolences to her family and loved ones. She was one of the finest people I have ever known.
