LeRoy ~ James R. "Roy" Burrell Jr., age 87, of Munson Street, passed away early Monday morning (Feb. 23, 2015) at Crossroads House in Batavia.
Roy was born February 24, 1927 in LeRoy, to the late James Roy Burrell Sr. and Nancy Majors Burrell.
Roy cherished his family. He married the love of his life, Myrtle Alligood Burrell, 69 years ago and was a devoted father to James (Lillian) Burrell. Roy was blessed with the love of his siblings Belle (Leon) Wilson of Rochester and Jane Washington of LeRoy and was predeceased by George Burrell and Agnes McDaniel. He was a dedicated grandfather to Matthew (Corlin) Burrell, Gregory Burrell, Danielle (Greg) Grzymala and Brendan Burrell and adored his 8 great-grandchildren. He was affectionately known as Uncle Roy to his many nieces and nephews.
Roy was an extremely hard working man. He was a proud veteran of the US Air Force. He retired from Lapp Insulator after 36 years and continued to work part time for over 25 years into the Fall of 2014.
He loved LeRoy football and was considered an honorary member of the team. He was a wonderful man who will be remembered fondly by everyone he met.
There is no prior visitation and services will be private.
