LeRoy ~ Samuel J. "Pap" Spadaro, age 91, of Garden Lane, passed away Wednesday afternoon (October 21, 2015) at the New York State Veterans Home in Batavia.
Mr. Spadaro was born April 7, 1924 in LeRoy, a son of the late Carmelo and Rose Scinta Spadaro.
He was a very loving and devoted family man, who just idolized his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was affectionately known as "Pap" to his family and friends. Sam was a proud member of the US Army, obtaining the rank of Staff Sergeant and was involved with the China-Burma-India Campaign. He was a retired supervisor of the Lapp Insulator Co. after 42 years of service. He also had a deep love for baseball, especially when it came to LeRoy Little League, where he used to devote many hours in various roles.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 70 years, Susan Spadaro; his sons, Tom (Gina) Spadaro of LeRoy and Jim Spadaro of Oxnard, CA; his grandchildren, Amy (Dan) Vanderhoof of LeRoy and Joe (Nikki) Spadaro of LeRoy; great-grandchildren, Sydney and Zachary Vanderhoof and Joey, Dominic and Anthony Spadaro, and his sister, Lillian Irrera of Batavia. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Anthony Irrera.
Family and friends may call on Monday, Oct. 26 from 4 ~ 6:30 PM at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake Road (Rt. 19), where his Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6:30 PM.
