Obituary of Albert F. Machols

LeRoy ~ Albert F. Machols, age 89, of Genesee Park, passed away Tuesday evening (October 18, 2016) at Unity Hospital. He was born April 3, 1927 in Batavia, a son of the late Adolph and Olive Legg Macholz. Mr. Machols will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a graduate of LeRoy High School, where he excelled in athletics. He was one of the first inductees into the LeRoy High School Hall of Fame for the football team of 1943. He was also an avid NY Yankees and Giants fan and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Dorothy Van Alst Machols; his children, Albert "Abie" (Gina) Machols of Jacksonville, FL and Kathleen Machols (Lloyd Gordon) of LeRoy; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Patti) Machols and Chris (Jessica) Machols; great-granddaughters, Alex and Jordan Machols, along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters. There are no prior calling hours and services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to either Volunteers for Animals, 3841 W. Main St. Rd., Batavia, NY 14020 or the donor's choice.
