LeRoy ~ Edward H. "Bud" McDermott, age 86, passed away Saturday morning (November 12, 2016) at the Batavia Health Care Center after a short stay. He was born July 13, 1930 in LeRoy, a son of the late Thomas E. and Esther Lapp McDermott. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Suzanne Martin McDermott and his sister, Eileen M. Neubert. Bud served 6 months active duty in the National Guard and then three years during the Korean War with the United States Coast Guard. He returned to LeRoy to take a job at the LeRoy Machine Shop and rose through the ranks to the vital position of tool maker. He was a member of the United Auto Workers, Local 481. Bud was a decades long, passionate member of the Batavia Radio Control Flying Club. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 17 at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Mercy Parish, St. Peter's Church, 44 Lake Street, LeRoy. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Francis Cemetery. Immediately following, there will be a gathering of friends for coffee and pastries at the No Finer Diner, 15 Main Street, LeRoy, hosted by Lori Trader, the proprietor. Lori was also kind enough to find a family with children, where Bud's dog, Molly now resides. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Mercy Parish.
