Obituary of William G. Carmichael

LeRoy ~ William George Carmichael, age 94, passed away peacefully on Thursday (July 12, 2018) at The Le Roy Village Green. A son of the late J. Walter and Mabel (Whiting) Carmichael. George was preceded in death by siblings James, John, Paul, Etta Jane Seeley, and Helen Carmichael.
George was a graduate of Le Roy High School, where he was a member of the 1941 Le Roy Football Team that was inducted into the Oatka Knights Hall of Fame on Friday, July 13th. George was a Veteran of WWII, having served our country with the United States Army in England and France and was a member of the Le Roy American Legion.
After his honorable discharge, he worked as an electrician for JW Carmichael and Sons and retired from Vanderlinde Electric in Rochester. He was a member of the IBEW Local 86 of Rochester. George was an avid golfer and bowler. He followed Jim Boeheim and the Syracuse Orangemen basketball team.
He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Rita (Van Alst) Carmichael. Daughters Carol (Katie) (late Ronald) Engert and Christine (Richard Farnsworth) McQuillen; grandchildren, Rhonda (Dave) Schmeer, Rebecca (Doug) Thompson, Rachel (Rich) Lombard, Stephanie (Jamie) Call, Stephen (Mack) (Elizabeth) McQuillen, Gregory (Tina) McQuillen; several Great Grandchildren and Great Great Grandchildren, In-laws, Pete and Gina Steen, and Dorothy Machols, along with several nieces and nephews.
At George’s request, there will be no visitation or services. George will be laid to rest at the Western New York National Veteran's Cemetery in Pembroke, N.Y. upon its completion.
