LeRoy ~ John B. Piraino, age 94, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday morning (September 18, 2018) at the LeRoy Village Green Nursing Home.
He was born June 24, 1924 in Mt. Morris, N.Y., a son of the late Peter and Julia Scarpino Piraino.
John was a very kind, gentle, loving and generous man. His wife, children and grandchildren were his greatest treasure. He served with the U.S. Army during WW II, was a past member of the Lima Rotary, where he served as president for 2 years and was a life time member of the Knights of Columbus in LeRoy, serving 2 years as Grand Knight. John was also the store manager for Vic Bloods Furniture Store in LeRoy for many years.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 71 years, Veronica Trubia Piraino; his sons, Peter (Sue) Piraino of Rochester and David (Debbie) Piraino of Rochester; daughter-in-law, Michele Piraino of Rochester; grandchildren, Jennifer, Christine (Brian), Carolyn (Jim), Monica (Dan), Amy (Nicholas) and Amanda (Curtis); 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Frances Piraino Bonadonna and Lucretia Trubia Zamejc, along with many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, John Piraino Jr., granddaughter, Kimberly Piraino-Miller and brother, Joseph Piraino.
Family and friends may call on Friday from 4 ~ 7 P.M. at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake Road (Rt. 19), LeRoy. His Rite of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Mercy Parish, St. Peter's Church, 44 Lake St., LeRoy. Interment in White Haven Memorial Park will immediately follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the National Kidney Foundation.
