Obituary of Gari Lyn Whalen

East Bethany ~ Gari Lyn Whalen, 78, passed away peacefully amongst her beloved family on October 25, 2018.

     Gari was born in Wyoming, New York on May 29, 1940.  She went to Pavilion High School, married Bill Whalen and proceeded to lovingly raise her 7 children.  Gari spent many years working at St. Jerome Hospital as an EEG/EKG technician.  After retiring she and Bill loved traveling around to see their fourteen grandchildren, golfing and spending their winters in Sebring, Florida.

     Gari is survived by her husband of 62 years, Bill (Chick) Whalen, her children, Steve Whalen and his daughter, Rachel; Tammy Dalton, her husband, Jerry and children, Jed and Dan; Jim Whalen and his partner, Philip Wagner; Todd Whalen, his wife, Colleen and children, Brian and Casey; Ann Marie Hunker, her husband, Ted and children, Eric, Amanda, Kendall and Morgan; Lisa Rose, her husband, Rob and children, Robby, Haley and Kyle; and Julie Corbelli, her husband, Paul and children, Brianne and Paul Jr.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her father, William Blatchford and mother-in-law, Garnetta Whalen.

     The family will hold a private celebration of Gari's life.  The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Livingston County Center of Nursing and Rehabilitation for their exemplary care of Gari. 

     Memorial gifts may be made to the Livingston County Nursing and Rehabilitation Memorial Fund Memory Unit, 11 Murray Hill Drive, Mount Morris, New York 14510.
