LeRoy ~ On April 07, 2019, David J. Carmichael (Spike), 75, passed into the Arms of His Lord and Savior. He was Born in Batavia, NY on Dec. 22, 1943 while his father was serving in Europe during WWII.

The son of John and Elizabeth (Betty) Willis Carmichael, he was the oldest of 5 siblings and a resident of Le Roy for his entire life, having resided on Summit St. with his wife Susan Griffith Carmichael for 54 years.

He and Susan were married on June 20, 1964 by the Rev. Canon Plumley in St. Marks Episcopal Church in Le Roy. They would become the proud parents of two wonderful boys, Kevin, and Andrew, who made them extremely proud of all of their life accomplishments and of the wonderful girls whom they married. Monica Littlefield (Kevin) of Clayton, NY and Kimberly Hobart of Le Roy (Andrew), he loved them both!

“Spike” would carry on the tradition of the Carmichael family in the electrical trade, as he was employed as an Electrician at Lapp Insulator and Caldwell Mfg. for over 42 years, while also working for a number of Le Roy residents throughout the years. Upon his retirement he worked as a grounds keeper and eventually as Administrator at Machpelah Cemetery (Sue always claimed he never retired, ” he worked seven days a week!”). He was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed all things in nature and the outdoors, and he found great pleasure in passing this love onto his children and grand and great-grandchildren when possible.

In 1997 he would find Eternal Peace in his life when he and Sue would come to embrace their Catholic Faith. Through the next 12 years they would work with others on their Faith Journey into the Church. Together they gained innumerable friends through the Church in the ensuing years.

“Spike” is survived by his wife, Sue, and sons, Kevin (Monica) and Andy (Kim), grandchildren; Amanda (Dan), Amber (Charlie), Ben, and Katie and great-grandchildren; Halie, Judson, Maxwell, Rhett, and Saoirse.
