The son of John and Elizabeth (Betty) Willis Carmichael, he was the oldest of 5 siblings and a resident of Le Roy for his entire life, having resided on Summit St. with his wife Susan Griffith Carmichael for 54 years.

He and Susan were married on June 20, 1964 by the Rev. Canon Plumley in St. Marks Episcopal Church in Le Roy. Upon his retirement he worked as a grounds keeper and eventually as Administrator at Machpelah Cemetery (Sue always claimed he never retired, ” he worked seven days a week!”). He was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed all things in nature and the outdoors, and he found great pleasure in passing this love onto his children and grand and great-grandchildren when possible.

In 1997 he would find Eternal Peace in his life when he and Sue would come to embrace their Catholic Faith. Through the next 12 years they would work with others on their Faith Journey into the Church. Together they gained innumerable friends through the Church in the ensuing years.
