LeRoy / Florida ~ Edward P. Longhany, age 92, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2020 at his residence in Florida.
He was born February 24, 1927 in Batavia, N.Y., a son of the late Peter and Lucy Stephanie Longhany.
Ed graduated from LeRoy High School and served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. Shortly after serving his country, Ed joined the New York State Police, where he served proudly in many capacities for 26 years, retiring as a senior homicide and narcotics detective working out of Henrietta, N.Y. He eventually went on to serve his community of LeRoy as Town Justice for 8 years and was also involved in numerous civic organizations.
He is survived by his children, Edward (Pat) Longhany of Wade, NC, Gary Longhany of Wade, NC, Luanne (Wes) Chestang of Bay Minette, AL and Ron (Betsy) Longhany of Felton, DE; sister-in-law, Bridie Longhany; 9 grandchildren, along with several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Lil of 49 years and 5 siblings.
Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 5 ~ 8 P.M. at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake Road (Rt. 19), LeRoy. His Rite of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Mercy Parish, St. Peter's Church, 44 Lake St., LeRoy. Interment in St. Francis Cemetery will be private.
