Obituary of Thomas H. Casey

LeRoy ~ Thomas H. Casey, 74, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2020 at Unity Hospital in Rochester, N.Y.
Tom was born in Syracuse, N.Y., on Sept. 1, 1945. There he attended Most Holy Rosary School and Central Technical High School. He went on to study culinary arts at the State University of New York at Delhi.
He served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged. In addition to serving as chef at several restaurants, Tom worked for the State of New York Corrections Division, where he was director of food administration at Sonyea Correctional Facility. He was a long-time member at St. Brigid’s parish in Bergen, N.Y., and a member at Our Lady of Mercy Parish in LeRoy, N.Y.
He was proud of his children and worked hard to help them accomplish their goals. Tom’s grandchildren always made him smile. He was an active volunteer at Notre Dame High School in Batavia, N.Y. His children and grandchildren are his legacy.
Tom is survived by his wife, Mary Kay (Callahan) Casey; two daughters, Eileen (Matt) Gianiodis, and Kathryn (William) Najem; five sons, Robert (Kelly), Ryan (Andrea), Peter (Lauren), Dennis (Laura) and Andrew (Amanda); 17 grandchildren and one great grandchild; his sisters, Margaret Robinson and Collette Byrne; his sisters-in-law, Sheila (Ron) Francis, Christine (John) Zinni, Marlene Casey, Marla Callahan; and brothers-in-law, Michael (Margaret) Callahan; Kevin (Vivian) Callahan ; Thomas (Catherine) Callahan; David (Linda) Callahan; and Timothy (Kelly) Callahan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Madeline (O’Donnell) and Harold Casey; his brother, Gerald; sisters, Anne Ryan and Bernadette Naughton.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date to be announced.
