LeRoy ~ Augustine "Augie" A. Rubino, age 88, formerly of Keeney Road, passed away early Tuesday morning (April 29, 2014) at the New York State Veterans Home in Batavia. Mr. Rubino was born May 12, 1925 in LeRoy, a son of the late Ignazio and Rosalia O'Geen Rubino. He will be remembered as a hardworking business man, who opened his first grocery store in 1951. He loved to work outdoors, where he would tend to his garden and flowers. He was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus, enjoyed playing golf and "snowbirding" to Florida with his wife, Alice. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Alice Shimburske Rubino, a brother, Frank (Patty) Rubino of Bergen, sisters, Connie Capuano of Batavia and Sarah (Ronald) Dusing of Rochester, a special nephew and niece, Frank (Ann) Capuano of Batavia, along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Rose Marie Gervase. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 2 ~ 5 at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake Road (Rt. 19), LeRoy. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Mercy Parish, St. Joseph's Oratory. The courtesy of no flowers is requested with memorials suggested to either Volunteers for Animals, 3841 W. Main St. Rd., Batavia, NY or Genesee Cancer Assistance, 16 Bank St., Batavia.
