Pavilion ~ Gary W. Muehlig Sr., age 82, of Lake Road, a retired Eastman Kodak worker and part-time employee of R.L. Jeffres & Sons in Wyoming, passed away on Tuesday (Jan. 25, 2022) at the Wyoming County Community Skilled Nursing Home in Warsaw.

     Mr. Muehlig lived in Pavilion and was married for 61 years to the former Carol Ann Roblee.

     He was born in Buffalo on May 6, 1939, a son of the late Louis and Mabel Barker Muehlig.  His birth came two years to the day after the Hindenburg airship disaster in Lakehurst, N.J.

     Surviving with his wife, Carol, is his daughter, Terri Ann Muehlig of Pavilion; his son, Gary W. Muehlig Jr. of Silver Springs; a brother, John E. Muehlig of Lyman, SC; three grandchildren, Michael Muehlig of Pavilion, his “best buddy”, Mindy Bittner of Alexander and Jordan Muehlig of Silver Springs; two great-grandchildren, David and Isabella Bittner of Alexander; sister-in-law, Donna Muehlig, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

     In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Roger Muehlig.

     Mr. Muehlig worked for Stella Brothers Collision in Lime Rock for several years before going to work for Eastman Kodak in Rochester.  He retired from Kodak in 1991 and worked afterwards for George & Swede Sales in Pavilion and R.L. Jeffres Farm operation in Wyoming.

     A former LeRoy resident, he graduated from LeRoy Central School in 1956.  He and Carol Ann Roblee were married June 18, 1960 at the United Methodist Church of Pavilion.

     Mr. Muehlig was a member of the Pavilion Fire Department and the department’s exempts and was president and caretaker of Maplewood Cemetery in Pavilion.  He enjoyed camping, golf, history, toy trains and toys.

     Of his passing, he once remarked, “To any who spoke ill will of me (during life), well your turn will come.”

     “If you read this obituary, I am better off now because I don’t have to put up with the liberals and freeloaders that have ruined the old U.S.A.!”

     There are no prior calling hours and service will be private at the convenience of the family.

     In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pavilion Fire Department, P.O. Box 156, Pavilion, N.Y. 14525.
