LeRoy ~ Raymond L. "Papa" Mancuso, age 89, of Wolcott Street, passed away Monday evening (July 28, 2014) at United Memorial Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Ray was born June 30, 1925 in Lime Rock, a son of the late Joseph and Christina Regoni Mancuso. Ray retired from Lapp Insulator and Pulsafeeder where he worked for over 40 years. He will be remembered as a very caring and loving man, who lived life to its fullest. He was dedicated to his family, friends, church and the NY Yankees. He was drafted at the age of 18 and served as a Navy Seaman 1st class aboard the USS Roche DE197 during World War II. After his honorable discharge, Ray returned to his hometown of Lime Rock, where he worked for LeRoy Lime Stone Crusher and played 2nd base for the Lime Rock Rockers. He received his high school diploma in June 2010 from LeRoy Central Schools through Operation Recognition. Ray was a member of the American Legion-Caledonia Post and USS Roche Association. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Arlene J. Mancuso, daughters, Sharon (Tom) Royce of LeRoy, Debbie (Vern) Falcone of LeRoy and Laura (Dean) McClurg of Warsaw, 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and favorite dog, Raina. He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters in law, George (Helen) Mancuso and Gene (Dale) Mancuso. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4 ~ 8 at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake Road (Rt. 19), LeRoy. His Rite of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 10 AM at Our Lady of Mercy Parish, St. Peter's Church, 44 Lake Street, LeRoy.
